We are considering a security protocol for the Mayors chain, as the chain is valuable we need to ensure that it is signed out of the building and when returned.
What procedures to other councils have in place for security of the Mayors chain?
Thank you for any ideas
Hi Julie,
Our chain has to be accompanied by a council officer and they take responsibility for ensuring it is put away.
Thanks Angela
Hi Julie, We don’t have a protocol as the chains are kept in secure safe with limited access and are always accompanied by a member of named staff when removed from the safe.
Hi Julie - we are fortunate to have a Civic Chauffeur and Attendant who always accompanies and takes responsibility for the mayoral chains when removed from the security of the Town Hall.
Thank you Angela , thats very helpful info
Thank you David, thats very helpful
Thank you Tracy thats very helpful
The Mayor signed at the start of the year to say he is fully responsible for the safe keeping of the regalia. they are provided with a specific sized safe at home. They have to be reserved a parking space at the events or engagements to be close to the building and not walk distance with any regalia
Thanks Jane thats very helpful
Hi Jane,
Just jumping on to see if you can share the safe you use please? My email is nicola.mellor@macclesfield-tc.gov.uk.
Thanks
Hi Julie, like others, we don’t have a protocol as the chains are kept in a secure safe with limited access and are always accompanied by a member of named staff when removed from the safe. In the exceptional circumstances when we use a Civic Driver from the Council’s integrated transport unit, the chains are transferred to our CCTV room where they are signed out and back in. Hope this helps.
Yes, that’s very helpful David, thanks for your reply
