Hi. We are looking into our Mayoral Chain Policy - in regards to what events the Chain is worn to and with what supervision. One of the options we are looking at is getting a replica chain for the Mayor to wear to events alone or outside of the Town Hall completely.
Does anyone have a Mayor’s Chain policy they could share with me?
If anyone has gone down the replica route, would you share where the replica was from?
Thanks in advance!

The Mayor wears her original chain to all events. If the event is outside Haywards Heath, we write to the local authority requesting permission for her to wear her chain of office there. We have never had a replica chain as it is covered by the Town Council’s insurance.

Our Mayor at Basingstoke & Deane always wears the original regalia. And when out of borough badge on ribbon permission is requested. We do not have a chain policy only that in the Mayor’s protocol it states about the security of the regalia, i.e. having an escort from the event to walk them back to the mayors vehicle for him to take the regalia off once inside the car. They are requested to remove the regalia and place in a secure case after the event.
